Frequently asked questions
What are the future plans for lovemallacoota.au?
This Week in Mallacoota stays the weekly for now (WK36:26 this week). The sustainable publication is a monthly: Coota in September ’26, then Coota in October, and so on. If enough help makes weekly production practical, This Week can continue. The website is meant to stay free to read.
Who runs this?
Colin Dixon, a retired local, owns and runs lovemallacoota.au as a hobby. The site is meant to stay free to read. It is set up for advertising, subscriptions and donations. It may make some money; it may only cover costs. This survey is hosted on survey.oze.au.
What is this survey for?
It is a community consultation, not a vote on whether the project survives. It asks what is useful, what is missing, whether a printed edition is wanted, and how the service should be supported. You may know it as the website, This Week in Mallacoota, the Facebook group, or Mallacoota Now.
How long does it take, and is it anonymous?
Most people finish in 6–8 minutes. Answers are anonymous. Demographic questions are optional and only reported in groups large enough to protect privacy. Volunteer contact details, if you offer them, are collected on a separate form that cannot be matched back to your answers.
When is it open?
Open now through Wednesday 30 September 2026, Australian Eastern time.
Will you publish results?
Yes. Basic numbers — how many people answered, and a local / regional / further-afield split — appear once enough responses are in to protect privacy. A plain-language “what we heard and what happens next” report will be published with the October edition.
